Founded in 2002, Science Blog is one of the longest-running science news sites on the internet — a masthead that has been translating research into plain language since before most of today’s science media existed. That heritage is exactly why we wanted it: an archive spanning more than two decades, a readership that trusts it, and a beat that never stops producing stories.
As with every acquisition, our investment is editorial before it is anything else. Lachlan Brown, our co-founder, has taken the role of Editor-in-Chief, and the publication has been organised around three territories: Body & Mind (health, medicine, brain science, and behavior), Living World (earth, climate, energy, and life beyond humans), and Matter & Machines (physics, mathematics, engineering, and space). The motto we publish under — clear science for curious people — is the standard every piece is edited against.
Every article is editorially directed and reviewed before it goes live, with claims cited to the original research rather than to someone else’s summary of it. It is the same framework that governs all our publications, described in full in how we publish.
