A Singapore-based publishing company operating specialist publications across science, technology, food, space, parenting, and the mind.
The Beginning
Three publishing paths, brought together
Brown Brothers Media was started in 2020 by three brothers from Melbourne. Brendan had founded The Expert Editor, one of Australia’s leading editing practices, and built e-commerce businesses. Lachlan had built Hack Spirit into one of the most-read personal development sites on the web. Justin had co-founded Ideapod, a platform for ideas.
Each had built something independently. Bringing their publishing operations and experience together made it possible to share editorial standards, infrastructure, and specialist teams across a wider network.
From Singapore, Brown Brothers Media grew by taking on the publication and operation of established titles. Its role is editorial and operational: modernising each publication’s focus, expanding its readership, and supporting the people behind its masthead.
Today the network spans titles founded as far back as 1995, alongside magazines built by the team. A distributed group of editors, writers, designers, developers, and operators works across three continents.
Mission
Useful information, stated clearly
Too much useful information is buried, overcomplicated, or dressed up in language that keeps regular people out. Health advice is hidden behind clinical jargon. Human behavior insights are wrapped in academic abstractions. Business knowledge is often gatekept by people charging thousands to explain what could be said plainly.
Our publications exist to give people straight, honest information they can use. Not oversimplified. Not patronising. Just clear.
We cite important sources so readers can check them. Every article is reviewed before publication. When something is wrong, we correct it publicly.
