Justin Brown is a co-founder of Brown Brothers Media. He focuses on strategic direction, technology, and expansion across the network’s publications.

Justin grew up in Melbourne and studied at the University of Melbourne, where he completed a Bachelor of Commerce. He went on to a Master’s in International Relations at the Australian National University, graduating with First Class Honours and the Hedley Bull Fellowship. He then completed an MSc in Economic History at the London School of Economics and began doctoral research in international political economy at the University of Warwick. He left the PhD to focus on Ideapod, the platform he co-founded in 2013.

Before that, Justin spent three years in management consulting. He has also worked as a tutor in international politics and psychoanalytic philosophy.

Ideapod began as a platform for ideas — first as a social network connecting academics with the public, later as a publishing site on critical thinking, philosophy, and mindfulness. It closed in 2024 after a decade of operation. Justin also co-created The Vessel, a platform offering courses on personal development, which continues today.

At Brown Brothers Media, Justin works on strategic direction, the technology infrastructure behind the publications, and expansion of the network into new properties and markets. He writes on technology, media, and modern life across Brown Brothers Media publications, and publishes video essays on his YouTube channel.

Justin lives in Singapore.
