We’re hiring a Special Projects Lead in Singapore: someone who builds things with us, working directly with one of the founders.
Brown Brothers Media is an independent publishing house. We own and operate editorial publications read by millions of people every month, across science, technology, food, space, and the mind. We are a small team, and we build with unusual leverage: a handful of people running systems that would normally take departments.
This page is not on our menu. You found it because we pointed you here, and it will tell you honestly what the job is.
The first project
Build our advertising technology stack.
Today, advertising on our publications is handled by an outside partner. We are building our own: the auctions, the demand partnerships, the video player, the floors and refresh logic, the reporting. It touches real money and real relationships with the largest advertising platforms in the world. It is live on our first pilot site already. Your job is to take it from pilot to platform.
A simplified view of a real header-bidding auction. One of these runs for every ad slot, on every pageview, in about a third of a second. Building and tuning this machine is project one.
You are not required to have experience in advertising technology. That is the point. We are not hiring a resume that matches keywords. We are hiring someone who learns fast, embraces unfamiliar ground, holds the outcome in view, and finds a way there. The domain can be learned in weeks. The way of working cannot, and that is what we hire for: autonomy, nimbleness, and an orientation to results rather than process.
After the ad stack, more projects. The people who thrive with us evolve into running whatever matters most next.

How this page was made.
How we work
Outcomes, not hours.
We work AI-first. The tools do the heavy lifting; the humans decide what matters, hold the standard, and push things across the line. We measure progress in decisions made and things shipped, not hours logged or meetings survived. You will have more autonomy than any job you’ve had, and it will be obvious whether things are moving.
What we look for
Five things.
- You shipYou have taken something from idea to done, in any field, and can tell the story of what nearly killed it.
- You persistSome of this job is weeks of politely chasing large platforms through approval processes. That takes cheerful tenacity, not brilliance.
- You already use AINot as a toy. As a serious part of how you get things done.
- You write clearlyMost of our work happens in writing. Clear writing is clear thinking.
- Autonomy suits youNobody here will manage your hours. If that sounds like freedom rather than vertigo, good.
Got it. Thank you.
We read every application ourselves. If there’s a fit, you’ll hear from Justin directly.
